Description

With the vaccine roll-out well underway across the nation, Multibrands is proud to introduce the Panodyne COVID-19 IgM/IgG/Neutralising Antibody Post Vaccine Rapid Test Kit for effective evaluation of the body’s immune response to the Covid-19 vaccine.

Hence, this kit is recommended as a post-vaccine immunisation test to help assess the body’s immunity and effectiveness of the vaccine by detecting the presence of neutralising antibodies in our bloodstream.

Test Kit for COVID-19 diagnosis and vaccine evaluation

This kit is used for the in vitro qualitative determination of Neutralising Antibodies concentration in human serum/plasma or blood sample.

Neutralising antibody (Nab) is a naturally produced antibody as part of the immune system’s response to inhibit or destroy the influence of foreign factors that invade the body. Produced by B lymphocytes, neutralising antibodies can be triggered by infection or vaccination and are to bind to antigens on the surface of pathogenic micro-organisms to prevent them from adhering to the target cell receptors, and thus prevent cell invasion.

What is COVID-19 Antibody testing?

COVID-19 antibody tests are used to find out whether a person has previously had the virus. The antibody test works by taking a blood sample and testing for the presence of antibodies. Antibodies are produced by the body in response to an infection and can usually be found in the blood after around 2 weeks following infection.

Antibody tests are different from Panodyne antigen (swab) tests which are in widespread use across the UK to see if you currently have the virus. Antigen testing continues to play a critical role in controlling the spread of the disease in the UK. If you would like to test to see if you are currently infected click here

The value of antibody testing

Antibody testing will identify whether people have had the virus or not. Antibody testing will help build a picture of how many people have had the infection, and how far and wide the virus has spread in the UK.

What antibody testing cannot do is tell people whether they are immune to catching the disease or infecting other people.

As COVID-19 is a new infection, we don’t yet know enough about how effective antibodies are at getting rid of the virus, whether they will protect you from getting it again, or whether having antibodies means you cannot pass the virus on to others. We also don’t know how long the antibodies will last. As the scientific evidence grows, we hope to have the answers to these questions.

Even when you know you have had the virus, the only way to reduce the risk of you becoming ill, or passing the disease on to others you care about, is to follow the latest government advice on controlling the spread of the virus. So even with a positive antibody test, to protect the people you care about and play your part in keeping Wales safe. You will still need to practice social distancing, wash your hands well and often, get a test (swab) if you have symptoms, and self-isolate if you have the virus or if you are a contact of someone who has the virus.

How does the COVID-19 Rapid Test Work?

The test strip contains a colloidal gold-labeled recombinant novel coronavirus antigen and quality control antibody colloidal gold marker, two detection lines (G and M lines) and one quality control line (C) fixed on a nitrocellulose membrane. M is fixed with monoclonal anti-human IgM antibody for detecting the novel coronavirus IgM antibody. G is fixed with monoclonal antihuman IgG antibody for detecting the novel coronavirus IgG antibody. The quality control antibody is fixed on the C line.

How quickly can COVID-19 Rapid Test yield results?

Results are valid 15 minutes after sample and buffer are combined in the cassette sample well.

How accurate is the COVID-19 Rapid Test?

In order to test the detection sensitivity and specificity of the COVID-19 IgG-IgM combined antibody test, blood samples were collected from COVID-19 patients from multiple hospitals and Chinese CDC laboratories. The tests were done separately at each site. A total of 525 cases were tested: 397 (positive) clinically confirmed (including PCR test) Covid-19-infected patients and 128 non-Covid-19-infected patients (128 negative). The testing results of vein blood without viral inactivation were summarized in the Table 1. Of the 397 blood sample from Covid-19-infected patients, 352 tested positive, resulting in a sensitivity of 88.66%. Twelve of the blood samples from the 128 non-Covid-19 infection patients tested positive, generating a specificity of 90.63%.
